Indian Village - Round One

Today was one of the longer days that we will have delivering filters. We split off into 9 teams of 3-4 people per team and went to a local Indian village to pass out about 35 water filter kits and teach people to use them. We started back at the church to load up the filters we would be using for the day.

Then it was out to the village. The area we were in is mostly farmland, so the homes were a good distance apart down dirt roads between sugar cane fields.

Each team brought filter kits, demonstrating their use and importance. This community currently mores for it's water. It is stored in a concrete cistern and is piped to the homes. While bacteria that causes immediate illness may not always be present, there are heavy metals that have made their way into this water supply and one team was even able to see tiny insects caught in the pre-filter.

The end result was water that they can drink without boiling, without a myriad of health risks, something that can give them clean water when the rivers flood and during hurricane season. And simply water that tastes good.
